DC Central Kitchen provides several different ways for volunteers to get meaningfully engaged in our work to combat hunger and create opportunity.

We make every effort to keep volunteers meaningfully engaged and to provide them with a deeper understanding of the impact of our work. We have now codified this commitment in our Volunteer Bill of Rights (PDF)

Meal Production

This is our most popular volunteer opportunity. Help DC Central Kitchen's staff prepare over 4,000 meals each day.

Crop Gleaning (New!)

Sign up for summer gleaning trips is now closed. Sign up for fall gleaning trips is still open - only a few spots left! Volunteers go to local farms to pick fresh produce with us. DCCK will use the food that volunteers pick to prepare nutritious meals for our clients.

Street Outreach

Volunteers serve breakfast at street locations in the District (weekday mornings), allowing outreach staff to focus on services for clients. This is an ideal opportunity for individuals interested in regularly volunteering.

Prepare Donations Off-Site
